6,000 € DONATION TO UNICEF

In the night from March 14 to 15, 2019, the Cyclone Idai over south-east Africa. Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi were hit the hardest. Over 840 people lost their lives in the storm and hundreds were missing. Thousands struggled to survive.

The cyclone reached wind speeds of 170 kilometers per hour and left a trail of destruction in its wake in the south-east African region. The torrential rain and gusts of wind destroyed roads, houses and devastated entire areas. The region is currently suffering from drought and the cyclone has completely destroyed what little harvest there was.

The tropical storm damaged or destroyed over 4,000 houses and several bridges and roads as well as water and power lines. Another obstacle for the rescue teams. Malaria mosquitoes and pathogens such as cholera are spreading in the puddles of rain left behind by Idai.

The scale of the disaster was enormous: in Zimbabwe alone, Cyclone Idai destroyed over 4,700 hectares of crops and thus the food supply for thousands of people.

We decided to donate part of our sales from May 2019 to UNICEF so that the children could find a safe home and go to school again. In the end, the proud sum of EUR 6,000 was handed over to Ms. Gabriele Naumer from the Unicef Heilbronn working group to support the victims of the storm disaster in Southeast Africa.
